The range of USI Ltd. practice areas reflects the changing concerns of urban strategy makers during the last four decades and the current concerns of urban strategy makers.

In the 1970s members of the USI Ltd. consulting team formulated and implemented competitive industrial policies in a variety of countries. In the 1980s USI Ltd. consulting team members were involved in privatization of public services and in the promotion of competition through public utilities restructuring. In the 1990s USI Ltd. consulting team members were leaders in combining smart environmental policies and quality of urban life studies. Since 2000 USI Ltd. consultants lead the preparation of revitalization strategies for older central cities and central business districts. USI Ltd. consultants developed unique strategies for the rapid absorption of large groups of migrants by job creation strategies and supply of affordable housing.
